CMS
isues guidelines on the use of electrical stimulation
In
Program Memorandum AB-02-161 published in November of 2002,
CMS specified changes to coverage and billing guidelines
for Electrical Stimulation.
Medicare
appeals process clarified Section
521 of the Benefits Improvement and Protection Act of 2000
(BIPA) amended Section 1869 of the Social Security Act to
revise the Medicare administrative appeals process.
The
discussion surrounding group therapy codes continue
A
wave of confusion went through the Rehabilitation industry
when CMS issued a clarification to the use of the CPT Code
97150, Group Therapy. Since then, CMS has worked to help
clear the confusion by holding a Group Therapy Services
Conference call on September 13 and by publishing Q&As
related to this issue on the CMS website.
