A
Shortage of Occupational Therapy Staff Could Lead to a Shift
in Therapeutic Responsibilities in Long Term Care Facilities
It is no secret that there is a significant shortage of
OT and COTA staff in Indiana and in other parts of the US.
In fact, the Indiana Occupational Therapy Association just
released statistics that only confirm what most of us already
knew. From 1998-2003, there was a 75% decline in the number
of Occupational Therapy Assistants sitting for the certification
examination.

Conference
Readiness Checklist As persons of authority
within your organization or facility, you have doubtlessly
attended many conferences, trade shows, seminars, etc.,
and have a very good idea about what you need to do to prepare
for them. As a vendor, it is always interesting to ‘people
watch’ on the trade show floor because I can always pick
out those folks who have never attended a trade show before.
Business
Etiquette Quick Tips Spring brings with
it conferences and trade shows. With conferences and trade
shows comes the heightened exchange of business cards. So
take out your business card and let’s review a few points.

THE DOTS: MAKE SOMEONE SMILE! Remember
when we were kids and would lie in the grass (before chemical
weed killers) on a hot July evening, looking up at the clear
sky (before smog), gazing at the stars? We would find the
constellation Ursa Major, and then we would zero in on the
group of stars we call the "Big Dipper." And when
we "connected the dots", we would see the handle
and the cup of the Dipper.
